About this map

GetRiskData estimates storm damage to every mapped building from public aerial photos taken after the storm. This map is a public research preview. Every number is a model estimate, not an inspection, an insurance assessment or a FEMA determination.

What the map shows

Likely damaged
A 50% or higher chance that the roof is damaged. A blue tarp on the roof counts as damage.
Possibly damaged
A 25% to 50% chance that the roof is damaged.
Damage unlikely
Under 25%. Light damage, such as a few missing shingles, is the hardest to see and can be missed.
Not assessable
The photo cannot show the roof: it is blurred, dark, missing or hidden by trees. No estimate of its own.
Chance of damage
How likely the roof is damaged. "If damaged" gives the loss as a share of the whole building's cost.
Replacement cost
What rebuilding could cost, from floor area, use and local construction costs. The "i" next to the floor area shows where it comes from: county parcel records, or the footprint and the building height.
Estimated loss
The chance of damage times the repair cost. The range uses low and high repair assumptions.
